A solid is a object thats particals are tight and can not be compressed
Liquids: Liquids take the shape of the container they are in and also cannot be compressed. They can be poured and and changed the shape of easily.Gasses:Have there own shape and can be compressed. Gases can expand to take the shape of the container they are in. Sublimation
Sublimation is when and object goes from a solid straight to a gas.
Suposing you increased the pressure of the air above the boiling liquid. What would happen to the boiling point of water? The boiling point of water would have to be more than 100 degrees. This is caused
beacuse the pressure that is pushing down on the water makes it harder for the air to come out.
Imagine you are trying to boil a cup of tea on a mountain, why would the cup of tea be fairly horrible?
beacuse when you get higher the boiling point gets higher so the cup of tea would be fairly cold.
Does water contract or expand on changing from a liquid to a solid?
The liquid contracts beacuse the particals in side get closer.
1. Why do icebergs float in antarctic and arctic waters? Do you think there is much of the iceberg under water or is it mostly above the water? How could you test your hypothesis?
I think that the ice burgs go far under the water and they float beacuase ice has some particals that contain water. You could test this hypothisis buy putting a peice of ice in a glass of cold water.
2. When you have a jar with a very tight lid, you can run it under hot water and it becomes easier to open. Why?
Beacuase when water goes to ice it expands which makes it harder to open the lid and when it goes back to water it contracts.

- Gels
Gels are liquids in solids, meaning the solids trap the liquid particals inside them.
A good example of gel is, jelly!
In jelly the gelitain holds the liquid (flavoring) in place.
